How it
Started...
| APECA
was formed in 1976 in Manila, Philippines, when 40 counsellors from 9 Asian
countries gathered together at DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY to deliberate on the
future of counselling in Asia. From these 40 Charter Members, APECA has now
grown to over 300 registered members from different countries.
Since its inception,
APECA Biennial Conference -Workshops are regularly held, with the site
rotating among the countries from which it draws it membership. To date,
thirteen (13) Biennal Conference - Workshops
(click here to view complete listing) have
been held. The milestone Silver Anniversary took place in Thailand and
Cambodia in 2001.
APECA continues to
help its members grow as counsellors, and strengthens the practice of the
profession. It has survived and remained solvent with very little funding
support, with the commitment of its members to keep going, as its main
driving force. |
